How to store valuable watches safely.

Storage that respects a fine watch addresses four quiet enemies: magnetism, humidity, dust, and direct light. None of them are catastrophic on a given day. All of them compound over years.

Magnetism comes from the speakers, motors, and electronics nearby. Robert Taylor cabinets are designed so the motor sits at a deliberate distance from the watch cradle, with shielding that reduces direct exposure.

Humidity matters most for movements with vintage seals or leather straps. The Private series includes internal climate control; for other collections, a stable room above ground floor is usually enough.

Light bleaches dials over years. A glass-front cabinet with anti-reflective treatment lets you display without sun damage. The exception is direct sunlight — keep the cabinet out of it.
